Eleven artists from Geneva were invited to work on the theme of adapting to a space. The way an artist gets feed from its environment.
In the 80’s and 90’s, Geneva was a strong alternative city, where squats were almost the only possibility for artists and people living less traditional lifes found a way to survive. This abandoned buildings were transformed by the people living in them, becoming a trademark of Geneva’s underground. This way of living developed a very special way for Geneva Artists to relate to space. Alternative galleries offered very interesting frame to art work and the installation work became very rich.
Espacio Odeon in Bogota is an old theatre transformed into an art space that is kept almost as a ruin. It opened its doors to a group of five artists that worked in situ for two weeks to inhabit and make the space their own. Other pieces were transported. This project was possible thanks to PRO Helvetia and the Canton de Genève.
